Have you been to the movies, lately? For a family of four it can cost as much as $40 just for tickets alone, and in the current economy it is an expense that many of us can’t afford. That is why it pays to be creative, and to put together a night at the movies, at home. You don’t need an expensive home theater to do this, and your kids, especially the little ones, will love it.

Just get a few films, preferably at least one picked by your children, some popcorn or other snacks, and some kind of easy-to-eat food for dinner, such as pizza. For the health-conscious, you can easily make your own snacks without all the fat, such as by using air-popped popcorn with salt instead of butter, or homemade pizza with less grease.

Pop in the movie, turn up the volume, and turn out the lights. It costs half the price, and it’s a wonderful way to spend time with your whole family. It’s also a lot more comfortable than those theater seats, not to mention cleaner than those sticky floors. Besides, if you have ever tried to take a small child to a movie, you know what a hassle it can be.
